Myrrh (Malmal) Grade # 1
Myrrh is a reddish-brown resinous secretion from the bark of a thorny tree species belonging to the Commiphora family. It forms into an irregular shaped mass of different sizes when it dries up. Myrrh has bitter, balsamic odor and is one of the oldest known medicines which has been widely used in different parts of the world. Grade #1 contains larger pieces of clean Suhul-Myrrh that has been locally sorted and inspected. Suhul is a naturally released myrrh from weak points in the tree.
Myrrh (Malmal) Grade # 2
Myrrh grade # 2 is a smaller (Peasize) pieces of Suhul-Myrrh which is sustainably harvested and has the same quality as the Myrrh grade # 1. The small size is convenient for incense blends. Each of the naturally harvested trees produces about 3kg (7lb) of resin per year, but the sheer number of trees makes it possible to provide a consistent supply. Collecting naturally produced Suhul myrrh does not only protect the trees, but it also guarantees a better-quality product. Each shipment is locally sorted and inspected before offering for sale.
Frankincense Frereana (Maydi)
Frankincense frereana is obtained from Boswellia frereana tree which is indigenous to higher elevations in the coastal regions of Northeastern Somalia. It is called "Maydi" or "the king of all frankincense" in local Somali language. Frankincense Frereana is in a high demand in different parts of the world due to its medicinal and spiritual uses. It has a very pleasant smell and is used in the incense and perfume industry. All our Maydi shipments are cleaned and inspected locally before they are offered for sale.
Gum Olibanum(Frankincense) - Resin Crystals
These small tears of frankincense are produced by Boswellia carterii tree also native northeastern Somalia. Frankincense is mostly collected in large quantities during the summer in the months June to August. Frankincense belongs to the family of sacred scents and has both religious and medicinal uses. The small size frankincense is convenient for incense blends. All shipments contain pure resin/gum that has been cleaned, sieved, and sorted.
